It’s New Year’s eve! Here’s what we’re remembering about 2016!

January: We began the year with the first of this years 82 events, Twelfth Night. We welcomed local theatre group Foot in the Door, and enjoyed a wonderful night of food and merriment.

February: Antarctic explorer, author and broadcaster Tim Jarvis visited the FSC.

March: In March we got the news that we had been successful in our bid to secure Heritage Lottery Funding for our exciting project to renovate the Museum.

April: Chair of Trustees Rosemary Irwin began her fundraising walk from Gilbert’s College in Oxford to his home in Selborne.

May: We introduced two new events to our calendar. A Wedding Fayre and a Nature Festival which celebrates White’s legacy.

June: We celebrated the garden, with our 24th annual Unusual Plants Fair, A rose evening, and a late night open garden.

July: Gilbert’s 296th birthday was celebrated with the Selborne village, in a lovely commemorative service at St. Mary’s church.

August: We exhausted ourselves by having three, sell out events on consecutive weekends! Gilbert’s Games, Dog Show and The Hound of the Baskervilles.

September: A new term started off with a bang as the FSC proudly boasted a fully booked Autumn term for school visits.

October: We introduced a new line of luxury coffee in the Tea Parlour, we now serve Lattes, Cappuccinos and Espressos.

November: Works began on the Museum’s renovation, beginning with enlarging the car park.

December:  Looking towards 2017 December is the month that we will make the final decision on the contractors we will use to under take the Stable Yard project!
