Miriam Tong has been General Manager for five years at Gilbert White & The Oates Collections, the independent Museum in Selborne. She is now about to take up the post of General Manager at Parham House, near Storrington in West Sussex. During her time at Selborne Miriam, with the support of her Team and the Trustees, has taken the Museum into a much stronger financial and organisational position. Together they have increased visitor numbers with improved and re-interpreted exhibitions.
Every year thousands visit the Museum to take in the heritage and beauty of the Grade I listed building and thirty acres of Grade II* Heritage Gardens and parkland. An ancient barn sits at the edge of the estate and welcomes over four thousand young people each year who learn about the wildlife and the landscape which sits in the heart of the South Downs National Park. Dr Rosemary Irwin, Chairman of the Trustees, says “Miriam has devoted five years to Gilbert White’s House. Her commitment to the Museum has been exemplary and she will be sorely missed. The Trustees and staff offer their sincere congratulations to Miriam on her new appointment and wish her every success in her new post.”
Miriam will move to Parham House in June 2015. In the meantime the Trustees will recruit her successor. See our Job Opportunities Page for details of the exciting opportunity this opens to the right candidate.
