As of Monday 3rd October Visitors will find that the back half of the Village Car Park back (behind the Selborne Arms) will be sectioned off. The car park will be limited for approximately 6 weeks.
This is the first stage of our museum renovations, which will see the museum develop into a more sustainable and visitor friendly venue. Our first task is to enlarge our car park behind the Selborne Arms to provide an additional 30 spaces benefitting both the Museum and Village. It will then be re-surfaced and landscaped with native trees, hedging and shrubs to create a natural screen for the cars.
As anyone who has visited before, parking in Selborne is not always easy and we hope to develop the car park so that visitors to the museum will be able to park much more easily!
However this does mean a few weeks of chaos. The diggers will arrive on 3 October and we expect the work to take about 10 weeks overall – we will need to close our part of the car park for the first 6 weeks although there will still be spaces available in the lower car park by the Pub.
If the car park is full we recommend trying the Plestor, located opposite the museum, by the church, or head up Gracious Street where there is limited on street parking and our Ewell field which we will open for parking if needed.
