Does your family LOVE nature? This October Gilbert White & The Oates Collections have an amazing selection of nature themed activities suitable for all ages.
On the 8th October as part of National Biology Week, learn what it is like to be an owl. Find out what it is like to be an Owl: what they eat, what makes them so special, how they hunt and what species there are to be found locally. Then have a go at dissecting an owl pellet to see what our local owls have been eating.
During half term on Wednesday 26th October Sarah Morrish a local nature artist will be holding family workshops, to create you own drawings using our the museums collections and the wildlife around us. This session and An Owls Life are £6 for children, with one accompanying adult going free.
On Tuesday 25th join us for a Craft Tuesday in the Museum, make a model of Gilbert White’s favourite pet Timothy, and take him home with you. This session is free with the cost of admission for the museum and will be running from 11am-4pm so drop in any time. All our family workshops include materials provided in the price.
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous why not join us for our annual Autumn Sleepover? A Museums at Night event that runs from 6pm Saturday 29th- 9am Sunday 30th October. Join us for a night of fun nature themed activities in our grounds, a warming campfire and a night in our 16th century barn, followed in the morning by a scrumptious breakfast! The cost of the sleepover is £20 per child with one adult free.
We look forward to seeing you for a nature packed October!
