Gilbert White's House & The Oates Museum - Tea Parlour & Shop
THE TEA PARLOUR Delicious refreshments are served in our elegantly restored dining room with some of the fare based on 18th century recipes. We pride ourselves on our selection of speciality teas and homemade cakes. The Tea Parlour is open from 11am-4.30pm and a selection of light lunches is available between noon and 2.00pm.
The Tea Parlour premises are licensed and a selection of alcoholic beverages are available to accompany your meal. We have been awarded a Tea Council Award of Excellence for 2006, one of only 33 establishments to receive this highly sought-after guarantee of quality.
THE SHOP Admission to the shop is free so you can visit the shop without going round the museum.
We receive numerous compliments about our shop as it is so attractive and has such a lovely variety of unusual and inexpensive, but good quality, gifts and books. We aim to make shopping at the museum a pleasure.
On hand are staff who will be only too happy to help you find that special gift.
The shop has specialist sections on:-
Gilbert White and Selborne, including three different editions of Gilbert White's book, 'The Natural History of Selborne'. Sometimes we even have much older collectable editions.
- Lawrence Oates, Frank Oates and the Antarctic
- Natural history
- Gardening
- Cookery
- Toys
- Greetings cards and gift wrap
We also stock a wide selection of books, many of which are at discounted prices.
