Can you believe it’s August already! Well if you’re struggling to think of things to do this months then look no further we have ten tips for a great August!
1. Something to do whatever the weather
You can never predict the British Summer weather, but here at the Museum it doesn’t matter what the weather does, we have great things to do and see both inside and outside the house!
2. Time travel
On the 5th and 6th you are invited to travel back in times for Gilbert’s Games. Our annual family event where you can try out the sports, games and pastimes from years gone by! This year we have Georgian traditions with Gilbert, we celebrate the Regency era with Jane Austen and might even be invaded by Romans!
3. Get crafty
There’s nothing better than getting messy and creative! Each Tuesday in August we are holding Wild Art sessions free of charge!
4. Learn future skills
Got a future naturalist or curator at home? Why not enrol then onto our August Naturalist or Curator clubs?
5. Go wild
Well it wouldn’t be the school holidays without a great selection of wild activities! This month we have a Sensory Welly Walk, Butterfly Walk, Bat Box Building, and Pond Dipping! For ages 5 all the way to 16!
6. Eat ice cream!
Well it is the summer holidays! Our Tea parlour serves lots of different flavours that are all homemade and really really really yummy!
7. Get batty about Bats
It’s all about bats on the 15th and 16th August! We have a Family bat Walk, Bat Box Builduang and a teen bat walk!
8. Grow your own!
Our Kitchen Gardening course is returning on the 24th. Learn from our Kitchen gardener how to set up, manage and develop your vegetable garden!
9. Enjoy a Midsummers Night Dream
Our open air theatre is the perfect closing to a perfect summer and what better than the Shakespeare Classic A Midsummers Night Dream? We are also offering picnics to order so for that extra bit of luxury see our website!
10. Go on the ultimate scavenger hunt!
