Gilbert White & The Oates Collection’s Unusual Plants Fair return for its 24th year. The event held of father’s day weekend is a great family event, not just keen gardeners. Stall Holder’s from around the South of England will be there showcasing a wonderful range of plants and garden accessories.
There will be excellent on hand advice to help with your own garden and tours of the magnificent gardens at Gilbert White’s House in Selborne.
Our gardener’s question time, on the Saturday, will feature many familiar faces and we are happy to welcome Andrew Bentley, the garden manager at Chawton House Library and, not forgetting our own head gardener David Standing. Workshops will be available such as learning more about the 18th Century gardener and his tools.
And why not stay after hours to learn more about our Historic Roses? Rose Malyon is an expert on the collection of roses we grow in the garden here at Gilbert White’s join us from 6pm on the 18th June to learn more about the history of the rose and the roses grown in Gilbert’s garden. This evening event is free admission.
Our Unusual Plants Fair is a fantastic day out for all the family and a great treat for Dad and Grandad on Father’s Day. Our Gift Shop will be bursting with unusual gifts, and our Tea Parlour will be on hand to sustain you as you explore our grounds and stalls. Admission for the day is £6 for adults and free for children which includes admission to the Museum.
