The course of true love never did run smooth…
We will be joined by Chapterhouse Theatre again on Sunday 27th August for our annual Outdoor theatre event. This year the company will be performing Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Four young lovers find themselves out in the forests outside Athens on Midsummer’s night. As they wonder the woods they are observed by Oberon the fairy King, and Puck is servant who accidentally gives the love potion to the wrong lovers to hilarious results. Meanwhile a band of workers from the city start rehearsing a play, when pompous Nick Bottom is turned into an ass and stumbles upon fairy Queen Titania who is under Oberon’s love spell.
A Midsummer’s Dream is a classic story of magic, comedy and love, and will be told in the glorious surroundings of Gilbert White’s garden, set against the Selborne Hanger woodlands. This is the perfect event to celebrate the end of a great summer. Bring a picnic or enjoy some tasty treats from our tea parlour as you enjoy great theatre under the stars!
Tickets are available from the museum shop or book here! Prices begin from £10. The performance starts at 7:30 and doors open at 6:15pm.
