Fantastical Creatures

Arts Award Discover Creative writing workshop with children’s author, Ally Sherrick

5th November 10.30-3.30pm

As part of the Creative Footsteps Festival, join award-winning children’s author, Ally Sherrick on a journey to create a collection of fantastical creatures for a wild and wonderful New Natural History of Selborne.

Using objects from the museum and Gilbert White’s writings as inspiration, Ally will guide participants in the creation of their own unique animals, birds, insects and plants on the page for display in the museum. She will also share her experiences of becoming a published author and answer questions about her writing along the way.

Ally writes stories for young readers full of history, mystery and adventure. BLACK POWDER, her debut novel about a boy caught up in the Gunpowder Plot, won the 2017 Historical Association’s Young Quills Award. Others are World War Two-set story, THE BURIED CROWN and Tudor adventure, THE QUEEN’S FOOL. Her fourth book, VITA AND THE GLADIATOR, will be published by Chicken House Books in February next year.
