Nature Connection Loan Box Launch

Open evening for teachers at Gilbert White Field Studies Centre.

From 4:30pm

Come along to the Field Studies Centre and find out more about our new Nature Connection loan boxes which support KS1 and 2 learning, both inside and outside the classroom.

Our education team have been working in partnership with local schools as part of the Making Connections project funded by South East Museum Development to create boxes of natural  resources for use by schools with the aim of reconnecting children with nature through the 5 pathways of Nature Connectedness: Senses, Emotion, Beauty, Compassion and Meaning.

Our boxes have been tested by children and developed with input from teachers to create an inspiring and useful classroom resource.

The boxes also support nature-based learning linked to the National Curriculum and include a folder of activities and ideas of ways to use your box. Examples of the boxes will be on display as well as a rolling slide show about the project and a chance to chat to staff to find out more. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for a free outreach visit to your school from our team- selected schools will be contacted after the event.

Complimentary refreshments will be available. Car parking at the centre is free for attendees- please write your vehicle reg on the list on arrival.
