Gilbert White & The Oates Collections once again are hosting Chapterhouse Theatre Company for a night of magical theatre in breathtaking surroundings. On Sunday 28th August at 7:30pm audiences will be taken away to the Devon Moors where something evil is afoot, in Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous Sherlock Holmes tale The Hound of the Baskervilles.
When death stalks the Baskerville family, legend and superstition collide with the most heinous of crimes. On the moor nobody is safe, not even the bravest of men. Join Chapterhouse to meet the world’s most famous of detective, Sherlock Holmes himself, as he is called upon to solve the greatest mystery of all time.
Chapterhouse have toured this production all over the country and are extremely popular with audiences ‘Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents magical theatre in magical surroundings’, this is especially true in Selborne with the great house of The Wakes behind you, Gilbert White’s beautiful gardens and the majestic beech clad hanger rising up and framing the stage there could not be a more atmospheric place to enjoy a great performance.
Doors open at 6:15pm and audiences are invited to bring low-backed seating and enjoy a picnic on the lawn before the performance begins. There will be drinks and refreshments on sale as well as a chance to order your own picnic from our website. The hampers include half a loaf of homemade bread, luxury crisps, seasonal fruit selection, a cheese platter with chutney, scones with jam and clotted cream, and a savoury option of smoked salmon, ham or vegetarian tart. Picnic hampers start at £22 for two.
